This project explores the multifaceted nature of human identity through the lens of international chess. Drawing inspiration from Charles Horton Cooley's "looking glass self" theory, I examine how individuals shape their behaviour based on societal perceptions, viewing social interactions as reflective mirrors that influence self-awareness and self-esteem.
In this context, each chess piece symbolises different facets of ourselves moulded by societal norms. For example, the queen embodies confidence, the knight represents courage, and the pawn symbolises vulnerability or constraint. Through this analogy, I aim to illustrate how individuals adapt and adjust in various social contexts, much like pieces on a chessboard navigating complex social dynamics.
